It's no secret to anybody who knows me that I've been having a crisis of self-confidence recently. My attempted reconciliation (ongoing...) with H, and the confusion over my feelings for him (I know I love him, I'm just not sure how I feel about that), coupled with my bizarre and now bordering on destructive and unrequited love (yes, I fear I love him, too?) for my closest friend - it's all taken it's toll. Tonight, I just wanted to stop worrying about what, or who, I want, and feel wanted.

Cue K, an old, erm... "friend." We chatted online for a while, talked about the times we met. I remembered him telling me he liked me, in a way ("You're kinda fit, and you're well good in bed,") so thought I'd give it a go. I asked him if he wanted to meet up tonight, and 20 minutes later he picked me up outside. We didn't quite make it to his place, and ended up instead in a Tesco car park, he did explain that he was ridiculously horny, too. My break from blogging, and from life in general for the past 9 months was unexpected, to say the least. In my absence I've thought many times about the friends I've made through blogging, and the things I've learned about myself, and others here. I wondered if I'd come back to blogging when I was back on my feet, as they say. And I have to say, the e-mails I received through this blog sealed the deal for me, so I'd like to thank everyone who contacted me with their concerns, and kind words. I'll begin posting again within the next few days.

This 29 year old Canadian model is a sight for sore eyes, first thing on a Monday morning. Andrew Stetson began his career as a carpenter, becoming a male fashion model at the age of 19. Stetson was discovered by Norwayne Anderson of the NAM agency. "I spotted him at a bar and circled him for half an hour so I could see him from every angle", his agent says. A few weeks ago, Tyra had a show about "gay for pay" dancers, barmen and porn stars. Two of her most high profile guests on this show were expert fucker Aaron James (AJ) and power bottom Kurt Wild of CollegeDudes247 fame. Geography meant that I missed the show, but thanks to the wonders of the internet, I could catch it online, and you can too.

I thought the show was amusing, and informative enough for a daytime TV talk show. I took real issue with Sean Kennedy's argument, though, that he felt these "gay for pay" guys were harming the gay scene. He seemed unhappy that they allowed straight guys into gay bars at all, which I find odd, coming from a member of a minority community which should know all about sexual discrimination. His notion that porn was associated with orgies, drug abuse and unsafe sex probably did far more to harm the gay community than any of these other guys could do. Kinda sad that nobody mentioned the fact that these "gay for pay" porn stars, specifically, and their studios become phenomenal safer sex advocates. Oh well, Sean, I still like your magazine.

Wednesday is the one day of the week where I get to spend more than an hour at the gym. Today I was snowed in, and decided instead to try a home workout. I discovered this guy on youtube while searching for a new arm workout. It's not as "full arm workout" as I'd hoped, but I've watched it about 5 times, and I already feel fitter. The plus side is, my arms aren't even burning.

No Regret (2006)

No Regret is the first gay feature film by an openly gay Korean director, Lee Song Hee-Il.

When I read the synopsis, I was sceptical. Orphan becomes gigolo, rich obsessive stalks him, pair fall in love, arranged marriage threatens to rip them apart but doesn't. It just seems a little too, well... gay-themed movie.

No Regret opens with Su-Min (Lee Young-Hoon) swimming in a river near his idyllic countryside orphanage. Cue ass shot, and boy, what a beautiful ass it is, too!

We follow Su-Min as he leaves the orphanage, and sets out for the big smoke, Seoul. Here Su-Min struggles to make ends meet, working two jobs to put himself through night school. It's in his job as a chauffeur that he meets Jae-Min (Lee Han), who propositions Su-Min, only to be turned down. When Su-Min is fired from his day job at a factory, we learn that Jae-Min is the son of the boss. Su-Min is rehired, only to quit again on principle. Are you following so far?

Su-Min drops out of night school, and ends up working as a gigolo in Seoul. It just wouldn't be a gay themed film if there wasn't a gigolo in it somewhere, would it? It's here that Jae-Min manages to track him down through a friend, and the two meet again. Jae-Min pays him for sex, where we're told that Su-Min doesn't take it up the ass, so we get to see this gorgeous young gigolo turn his hand to topping his stalker. Despite the childish, awkward jerking and gasping, I was still, almost inexplicably turned on by this scene. Before leaving, Su-Min threatens to kill him if he sees him again. Though, I'm not quite sure why...

And so the story goes. Rich guy stalks orphan, until finally, orphan gives in, and the pair fall madly, and deeply in love. In one touching scene, Su-Min offers up his ass to his lover, so we're left in little doubt as to the feelings between the pair. He quits working as a gigolo, and achieves some semblance of normality in his life for what, we assume, is the first time.

But of course, we know that the story can't end here. Where's the tragedy?

Jae-Min's arranged marriage, the death of one of Su-Min's best friends, and a rather dark, violent and confusing ending see to that.

But of course, Su-Min and Jae-Min both survive, and, we're led to believe, end up together by the time the credits roll.

No Regret left me with more questions than it answered, rather like a French movie. This wasn't a bad thing, though, and despite a very corny plot, Lee Song Hee-Il created a masterpiece against all the odds, which had me transfixed from the first flash of Lee Young-Hoon's rear end to the end of the final scene. Beautifully shot, cast and acted, I certainly don't regret having watched it. Definitely one of the best Asian movies I've watched.

A Gay Day for the Music Industry

Obama Victory Softens Gay Rights Blow

Truly an historic day. Barack Obama has been elected the new President of the United States of America in a sweeping victory for the Democrats, the Democratic candidate receiving 349 electoral college votes, to the Republican candidates 162 electoral college votes.

Amid the excitement in Chicago, the BBC reports that one reveler exclaimed, "It means all races and creeds can live together," while another woman said that this victory meant that anyone, whatever their background, could make it.

The civil rights campaigner the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the man who once described Obama as "Not black enough," among countless others celebrate the election of the first African American President of the USA as a victory for the civil rights movement, and the American people in general. This historic victory is seen as marking the end of discrimination, and the beginning of a new era of American history.

However, a few hundred miles away in California, the news came that Californian voters had chosen to ban same-sex marriage with a 52% majority in favour of proposition 8, just months after it was legalised by the state's supreme court. State attourney General Jerry Brown has said that the thousands of same-sex marriages carried out in the state since May would remain valid, but no further same-sex marriages could take place.

Florida also moved to ban same sex marriage with a 62% majority, and Arizona with 56%. And so, while the rest of the country celebrates a victory for minority ethnic groups, the gay rights movement (representative of around 10% of the population of any country) has suffered a severe blow.

While GLBT campaigners vow to fight the measures, this has been seen as a bitter-sweet victory by many liberal Americans. While the nation celebrates the equality of all people regardless of colour and creed, it appears that sexuality has been forgotten.

Guy Fawkes Night

Tonight is Guy Fawkes Night, and to mark the occasion I'm off to a public bonfire and fireworks display with a few friends. Of course, we're maintaining the pretense that we're doing it for the kids.

On my way to work this morning I passed several groups of kids with effigies of the man himself, asking, "Penny for the Guy." The last group I passed had no effigy at all, rather it was a young boy sat in a shopping trolley, dressed in a tracksuit. Even after 5 years, I'm still amazed by this city, and it's people.

I'm wrestling with my conscience at this point. A friend of mine who made a move on me at Halloween will be there, with his wife. What's a boy to do!?

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favourite celebrations, an excuse for a party that I never miss. This year I'm hosting my own Halloween party again. Fancy dress, of course - and it's outdoors. I'm still amazed at how many people plan on coming scantily dressed. Myself, I'm being brave and appearing as Papa Lazarou, of the League of Gentlemen fame. Three fire pits should keep people warm, even in this cold weather! Some Halloween classics such as apple bobbing have been mixed up with less traditional entertainment - whack the piñata where of course, the traditional donkey has been replaced with a ghost - and should keep people entertained. Somehow, though, I'm sure that the blood punch and hot pumpkin soup will be more appreciated. The younger, or more fragile guests have Corpse Bride, Stardust and Nightmare Before Christmas (it applies to Halloween, too!) to keep them occupied. I've even dug out some old VHS tapes of Count Duckula for backup. Weeks of planning have gone into this, and still - my pumpkin jack-o-lanterns are already looking a little blackened inside, and I've only invited a handful of confirmed homosexuals. But with a few blood punches, I'm sure all that will be forgotten... or at the very least, some of the non confirmed homosexuals should be a little more open to persuasion.

If you're not celebrating Halloween at all, I urge you to dig out a scary movie and pop open a bottle of wine, or two. Live a little! I'd be interested to hear how you all plan on spending your Halloween!

Life Sentence for Former Mr. Gay UK

Anthony Morley, the 36 year old Mr. Gay UK 1993 turned cannibal chef, was yesterday sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and cannibalization of his lover, Damian Oldfield.

Judge James Stewart described the case as "one of the most gruesome murders" he had ever had ever dealt with.

Morley claimed that he killed Oldfield in April because he feared that he would rape him, then cut up his flesh before seasoning it in olive oil and herbs, cooking it, and eating a piece. Morley then walked into a take-away in a blood stained dressing gown and flip-flops telling staff and police officers that he'd killed someone because they'd tried to rape him. Police officers found cuts of uncooked human flesh on the chopping board and work surfaces of Morley's home.

Morley consistently denied murder charges, on the grounds of provocation and diminished responsibility. Judge James Stewart ordered that Morley spend at least 30 years in jail.

Interestingly the former Mr. Gay UK had a steady girlfriend at the time he won the title in 1993, while working as a dancer and part time model.

Today rumours are circulating that the Sous Chef from Leeds has been assigned to the role of prison chef.

Milk is a good source of protein and calcium, and contains chemicals which may help to prevent heart attacks and strokes, and fight some cancers. And yet, at the same time, many scientists believe that milk can increase the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men, and it's also been linked to conditions such as arthritis and diabetes. With all this contradictory information flying around the place, what's a boy to believe? Well, if it's good enough for these studs to pour over their bodies, it's good enough for me to drink! After posting on the alleged rape of Prime Texan Beef pornstar, Mason Wyler and his boyfriend, I felt that I should mention the recent post on Mason's blog by his partner, "Marcus Wyler," which you can find here.

In the post, Marcus attempts to end speculation that the allegations are false, or part of a PR stunt by the star by providing censored documents, police statements, etc. which the couple believe confirm their story. He denies that Mason fabricated the allegations of rape to attract attention, but admits that the positive attention Mason has received in recent days has been a bonus, at a time when he's been feeling pretty low.

In the past few days, a story about the handsome Texan porn star Mason Wyler has been generating a lot of interest among gay bloggers. The story, that Mason was violently raped by a decorated Iraq war veteran began with blog entries from Mason Wyler himself, which can be found here, and on his MySpace, here.

There seems to be a lot of debate over whether his claims are true, or part of an attention seeking, PR exercise. If you want to understand why, read on...

The story runs that Mason lost his wallet and house keys. On Saturday 4th October, he posted a blog entry, offering a "handsome" reward for their return. The post in question can be found here. In it, Mason describes his wallet, and where he lost it. He also highlights the fact that the wallet contains his driver's license, home address and photographs, and it was with the keys to his house when he lost it. The post begins with a picture of Mason reclining on a bed, and then features a picture of him sucking Cody Cummings' cock, before ending the post with:

I'd be more than willing to give you a handsome reward. Any ideas of what that reward should be?

The story continues less than 24 hours later, when Mason published a mock newspaper article, written by himself, describing the brutal ordeal he faced when he was gang raped by an army captain who found, and returned Mason's wallet and house keys that day. Complete with a photo of Wyler with blackened eye, sobbing into a tissue. In the mock article, Mason describes a rape scene in which he's tortured, drugged, gang raped, bareback, by an ex army captain and his friends at gunpoint over the course of several hours, who beat him to the point that he loses consciousness, and force him to drink urine.

Any fan can confirm that Mason has published rape scenario erotica before. He's also well known for appearing in niche films featuring bondage, watersports, and bareback sex. The difference? In these instances, it was Mason's choice to participate. While many people believe this to damage his claims, it doesn't detract from the fact that even the most ordinarily pleasurable sexual activity becomes rape if it's not consensual.

The day after this mock article, Mason posts again, to tell us that he'd changed certain facts in the story, and yes he'd made some of it up... but it did really happen! In this post, Mason goes into yet more detail about his ordeal. He goes on to describe mistreatment by the police and medical professionals. Alarmingly, Mason goes on to tell us that after fingerprinting his house, the police had discarded the fingerprinting tapes in his trash, and not one of the drops of blood on the floor had been swabbed, to match with his attacker's DNA.

Not one of the drops of the blood looked as if they had been swabbed for samples... something I thought the police would want to match with the DNA taken from my hole.

The third post in as many days that Mason posted about his ordeal makes several confessions about how he'd photoshopped his name into the police reports, and withheld or changed information. But once again, Mason asserts that the events he described really did happen. Several new elements are added to the allegations, such as the fact that he began chatting to his attacker online several months previously. And that he'd let his attacker tie him up voluntarily, but his consensual partner became his rapist when he pushed the boundaries too far. Mason claims that his boyfriend was raped by the attacker. He also admits that he changed the dates of the alleged attack, which was why time-frames weren't adding up. He expands on the alterations, and his reasons for doing so in this post.

Mason attempts to convince his fans, and his haters, that he was indeed raped, by posting this article by AVN on his blog. As many have pointed out, the same people who helped spread the false rumour of Michael Lucas' death, in a PR stunt for a new movie (read about that here, if you're bored).

So is this a PR stunt, meet-gone-bad, or a brutal and unprovoked rape? I have a feeling that only Wyler himself knows the answer to that question.

I hope that Mason is making it up, really, and that this is all some fantasy that's been taken too far. The alternative is that he's the victim of an horrific crime, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Whatever the case, many people are offering sympathy to Mason on his blogs, and I have no doubt that he needs it at this time. Understandably, many people who have themselves been the victims of rape are angry at the possibility that this is nothing more than a PR stunt.

While this idea appears to anger Mason and his partner, I think that they should be aware that the absence of news coverage for what some people would consider to be a high profile rape case is the basis for most people's argument that the event has been staged.

I'm normally a fan, but tonight I think I'll be using something else as wank fodder. It just wouldn't feel right, objectifying a victim...

Words fail me. I'm not even going to post the blurb. This was an awful, awful movie. It's saving grace (the reason I didn't turn it off after just 5 minutes) was that it stars Scott Lunsford (hot) and Ryan Carnes (HOT). But not even the brief full frontal nudity could make this movie enjoyable.

You don't have to be the world's biggest sports fan to have heard about Matthew Mitcham's shock gold medal win in Beijing today. The 20 year old diver from Sydney produced the highest scoring dive in Olympic history, beating favourite to win, Zhou Luxin, by almost 5 points and becoming the first Australian male gold medallist in diving since Dick Eve in 1924.

Mitcham generated a fair bit of media attention in May this year when he came out to the Sydney Morning Herald, becoming one of the first Australian athletes to do so, and astonishingly, he's the only openly gay athlete at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, compared to Athens in 2004, where 11 of the competing athletes were openly gay.

Hardly surprisingly, he got rather emotional after his near perfect dive. Well done Matthew!

Plata Quemada (2000) isn't your average gay themed movie. It's a passionate and gritty crime thriller that's based on the true story of a high profile Buenos Aires heist in 1965.

El Nene (Leonardo Sbaraglia) and Angel (Eduardo Noriega) meet in a Buenos Aires bathroom, and quickly become inseperable. The lovers earn themselves the nickname, "The Twins".

These boys aren't your average pretty boy, gym bunny gay characters, either. They're thieves, they're rough, they're messed up. Angel is a schizophrenic and deeply religious character who has been haunted by "voices" his entire life. Nene is unfaithful, untrusting, and bisexual. The relationship between the two is exactly what you'd expect. It's gritty, it's violent, but it's incredibly passionate, and it's obvious that they're deeply in love.

The lovers become partners in crime, and with their friend Cuervo (Pablo Echarri) and an assortment of other criminals they lead a botched robbery on an armoured truck. Angel is injured in the heist, and Nene kills all of the guards a fit of rage. Subsequently, the gang flees with the stolen money to nearby Montevideo where they live in hiding.

Angel has stopped having sex with Nene because of the voices he hears and the two hardly speak, but manage to maintain an amazing level of intimacy. We watch their strained relationship boil over, as the trio break curfew and leave their hiding place. Frustrated with this lack of sex in his relationship with Angel, Nene begins an affair with Giselle, a local prostitute. He confides in her that Angel knows him like nobody else, and that he knows what Nene wants, and what he will do even before Nene does. This becomes apparent when Angel begins to suspect that Nene is being unfaithful.

There is talk of Nene and Giselle escaping together, however, when she tries to force Nene to choose between her and Angel, he chooses Angel. Nene threatens to kill Giselle if she turns the gang in, but despite his threats she goes straight to the police and the trio are surrounded before they can take to the road. They attempt to stand and fight, believing that they can still escape, and we watch Angel and Nene rekindle their relationship, sharing a few brief, erotic moments together in happiness.

Cuervo is the first casualty of the seige, and as the lovers wait for the next wave of attacks from the police they soon realise that they have no way to save themselves, or their loot. It's this that leads to the title scene where in one last vibrant outburst, the couple set fire to the money.

Essentially a gay Bonnie and Clyde, Burnt Money still manages to be unique. Their performance is superb, Sbaraglia and Noriega simply ooze sex appeal. For those of us who have a soft spot for bad boys, the sight of these two hunks locked in a passionate kiss while covered in blood, sweat and grease is a delight. And for those of us who like our love stories with a twist, this movie delivers. Possibly it's only flaw (aside from the lack of a rampant and graphic sex scene between these luscious latinos) was that I kept missing the subtitles because I couldn't drag my attention away from Angel's eyes.

I'm not quite sure what was so "intensely erotic" about the movie, as the cover boasted. There were several heterosexual sex scenes throughout the film, but the relationship between Angel and Nene was portrayed as a deeply emotional one, not so much a physical one. "The Twins" shared some intensely intimate moments, notably when Nene pulled a bullet out of Angel's shoulder on the couch, but there was relatively little in the way of inferred sexual intimacy between the two at all, until the final 10 minutes of the movie. And yet, Burnt Money still managed to be incredibly sexy and devastatingly touching.

Definitely one of the best gay themed movies I've ever watched, my only regret is that it's taken me 8 years to see it. Plata Quemada left me with a lump in my throat, and Angel's eyes left me with a raging hardon.

Rimming. You either love it, or you hate it. And lots of us love it. It's very much a mainstream fetish, even among straight couples and lesbians.
